The Government of Canada, through Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), has announced that, effective March 31, 2010, it will no longer accept new applicants into the ecoENERGY Retrofit - Homes program.
According to the Minister responsible for NRCan, the Honourable Christian Paradis, the ecoENERGY program has not been cancelled, rather is undergoing a review.
Information regarding the federal government's commitment to provide grants to homeowners who are already participating in the program can be found via the Federal FAQ link to the left.
Homeowners who have had a pre-retrofit evaluation and are within their 18 month deadline to complete the work are still able to apply for an extension to the deadline, through the Apply to NRCan for an Extension link at the left.
The Province of Ontario announced, on April 19, 2010, that it would continue with its former commitment to subsidize the cost of a pre-retrofit evaluation, and to provide grants for retrofits, until further notice. The Ontario Home Energy Savings Program link at the left leads to the provincial announcement.
